1. Who We Are
TechChaps is the trading name of Techchaps IT Services Ltd, registered in England & Wales under company number 09118260, with its registered office at Office 282, Unit 5, 399-405 Oxford Street, London W1C 2BU. We are the controller of the personal data described in this notice, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZA933763. For anything to do with your personal data, contact us at info@techchaps.com.
2. Introduction
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you visit our website, contact us through our enquiry forms, hold a member account with us, or use our Go Digital website service — including placing orders, making payments and registering domain names.
3. The Data We Collect About You
Personal data means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include anonymous data.
- Identity Data includes first name, last name, or other name details you provide.
- Contact Data includes email address, phone number, company name, and similar contact details.
- Technical Data includes IP address, browser type and version, device information, time zone, and similar website usage metadata.
- Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, pages, and forms.
- Enquiry Data includes project briefs, support details, timing preferences, and other information you choose to submit through our forms.
- Account Data includes the name, company, email address, phone number, and password (stored only as a secure hash) you provide when you create a member account.
- Order and Payment Data includes details of Go Digital orders and subscriptions, and domain registration contact details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider — we never see or store your card number.
4. How We Use Your Personal Data
We only use your personal data where the law allows us to. Most commonly, we use it:
- to respond to enquiries, consultations, quote requests, and support requests
- to prepare proposals, recommendations, or follow-up communications
- to deliver requested services or support
- to operate your member account and provide the Go Digital service you have ordered, including taking payment and registering domains
- to comply with legal obligations and protect our business interests
We do not normally rely on consent as the sole legal basis for responding to business enquiries, although we may rely on consent for certain marketing activities. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by contacting us.
5. Project Enquiries and Confidential Information
When you submit a quote request, consultation request, free-advice request, contact enquiry, or support ticket, we use the information you provide to review your request, communicate with you, prepare estimates or recommendations, and deliver support or related services.
We treat enquiry and project discussion materials as confidential within TechChaps and limit access to people who need the information to respond, scope, support, or deliver the relevant service.
This privacy policy explains how we handle personal data. If you need a formal NDA before sharing highly sensitive commercial information, source code, intellectual property, or internal documents, please read our Confidentiality & NDA page and contact us before sending that material.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit our website. We only use cookies that are essential to run the site: for example, keeping you signed in to the member area, protecting forms from abuse, and remembering that you have seen our cookie notice. Essential cookies do not need consent, which is why our cookie notice informs you rather than asking you to choose. We set no analytics or advertising cookies.
Anonymous measurement. We measure visits to our website anonymously on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding overall site usage. This measurement stores nothing on your device, anonymises your IP address, and cannot recognise you across visits. It records which pages are viewed during a visit and which site a visit came from.
7. Who We Share It With
We share personal data only with the service providers we rely on to run our business — a payment provider, a domain registrar, our hosting and email providers, and our own self-hosted analytics — and only what each needs to do its job. We do not sell personal data. Details of our providers are available on request.
8. How Long We Keep It
We keep enquiry data for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. We keep account data while your account is open; when you close your account, your personal data is deleted as part of the closure process. What happens to a Go Digital website and its content is set out in the Go Digital terms. We keep records we are legally required to hold, such as invoices, for the statutory period.
9. Data Security
We put in place appropriate security measures to prevent personal data from being accidentally lost, used, accessed in an unauthorised way, altered, or disclosed. Access is limited to people, contractors, and service providers who have a business need to know.
10. Your Legal Rights
Under data protection law, you may have rights to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, transfer, and withdrawal of consent where applicable.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first at info@techchaps.com so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Our ICO registration reference is ZA933763.
